Angry White Men

When Barack Obama talked about the "bitter people" at the San Francisco brie and white wine event, he fatally wounded the small chance that he had to become president.I certainly have nothing against bitter people, I tend to think if a person is not somewhat bitter then they are seriously misinformed about the state of the country. Almost everyone has something to be bitter about these days, whether they are black, white, male, female, rich, poor, gay or straight.
But politically, the most important bitter people are the Angry White Men. Angry White Men come from all economic strata, some are filthy rich and others dirt poor—but they do not believe in class. One common characteristic, besides being communicants of the NFL as the national religion, is they have an unabiding faith in the Horatio Alger myth, that in America anyone can make it so long as they have sufficient gonads. And if they don't make it—then it is the fault of the government, women, homosexuals, elites, rappers, affirmative action, NAFTA, activist judges, outsourcing, corporate board rooms or illegal immigrants. One way to make any Angry White Man gag is to use words like “disenfranchise” or “marginalize.” Sissy talk.
Although they come in all political stripes, most Angry White Men these days tend to vote Republican. In fact in the Democratic Party, white men, angry or not, are a minority group. The phenomena of Angry White Men became an important factor in national elections in 1994— and the Revenge of the White Guys--when Republicans took control of Congress.
In 2000 one of their own took control of the White House. And testosterone has been the word of the day ever since. If any Angry White Men had any doubts in the 2004 election, they were dispelled when Professor Kerry went wind surfing.
Perhaps it is because Angry White Man or not, George Bush turned out to be a retard, but these white men are still angry. So what is it the Angry White Men would like now?
I think the answer is Lou Dobbs.
Lou is the Angry White Man's answer to McClintobama.
Lou has come a long ways from the days when he was the spokesmen for, and golfing partner of, Wall Street's financial elite and an outer space cowboy. He is now the self-proclaimed embodiment of America's besieged middle class. He wages an unyielding battle against “corporate imperialism” and illegal immigration.
El Duce Dobbs would start to restore our national pride and sovereignty by immediately transporting all illegal immigrants out of the country, build a big wall on the border, end outsourcing, cancel NAFTA and all other trade agreements.
Lou would then bear down harshly on the corporations, and ensure they are answerable to the middle class (which all Angry White Men consider themselves members of--regardless of income)--- as well as start giving white men a fair shake.
There is really no one like Dobbs on the national scene. His populism is reminiscent of William Jennings Bryant, who railed against the trusts and monopolies—as well as the teaching of evolution.
It is ironic that the old business reporter, like Bryant (as well as Mussolini and Hitler), really finds economics to be secondary to the reestablishment of values through National Sovereignty. He is an advocate for a new American Nationalism—achieved through the economic, political and social empowerment of Angry White Men. Though he does need to do something about that daughter of his.
Economically, Dobbs despises free traders and laizzes faire capitalism. He advocates an America, free of foreigners, the whining of minority groups, screechy women, metrosexuals, Hollywood tarts and walled off from the rest of the planet.
Behind the Great Wall of American Protectionism, prosperity and high wages will be the norm, once the robber barons are reined in by the Politburo of Angry White Men, we are purged of the impractical ideals of insidious libertarianism (both economic and civil), and corporations are forced to be responsible and use common sense so that every Angry White Man is playing on a level field, and treated with the respect he deserves.Although there is a movement to draft Lou Dobbs, I guess it is not going anywhere.
But until Dobbs is in the White House, Angry White Men are going to stay angry.

I disagree with you that Obama ruined the "small chance he had to become president".
Barring a complete meltdown in IN and NC, Obama wil get the nomination. Polling data suggests that he would be highly competitive against McCain. Keep in mind that 4/5 Americans think this country is on the wrong path and McCain wants to continue many of Bush's policies. Once they see through the maverick facade, he will lose a lot of his support.
There must be a movement afoot to redefine the word "angry."
I've seen so many angry people sounding off this year, and very few of them have been men. The ones that are men, are like Obama and that nutty pastor of his, and they aren't white.
Agreed, Obama put the fork in himself with his two-step on the pastor diasaster and his bitter small town folk clinging to religion and guns comment.
Anybody who knows anything about small town PA knows that buck season is practically a state holiday.
Obama affixed a big leftist sticker on his forehead with his bone headded comments.
Becky, in all due respect, don't blame the daughter for your preceived sins of the father.
You should take down that spawn of Dobbs photo.
Respectfully,

Republicans took Congress in '94.
It's relevant because in Clinton's first two years, he jammed so much white-male-hating straight-hating travel-office-hating capitalism-hating crap down our throats, and were it not for that the Republican Revolution never would've happened. He thought he could go from the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock to the Big House in DC, and nobody would watch him any more closely.
The Big Anger just isn't coming from your so-called "angry white men."

I agree about a whole lot of angry going around right now. Your observation that political "anger" is strongly associated with white men is because this class holds the majority social political power along with the one it the white house presently. The vocal political fomenting is a desparate attempt to acknowledge the "collective" anger of all U.S. social groups out of fear they are about to be politically power stripped. Creating U.S. citizen class exclusivity at the expense of global capitalism, (protectionism) sounds like great lips service promises but I don't believe the other social classes are buying it this time. They likely sing to their own "angry" white choir.
Mk Freeberg--don't be so defensive, Angry White Men used to be proud of the label--there were AWM T-shirts back in the 1990's. And by and large I think most still are.
Your description of the Clinton era, regardless of whether I agree with any of your adjectives or not, as "white-male-hating straight-hating travel-office-hating capitalism-hating crap"--proves my point about angry white men.
MSC,
I have repeated many times why Obama can not be elected president, so I am not going to repeat it in detail here—one place I discussed it was Hillary Over Parma Tonight.
I think it is more than likely he will get the Democratic nomination—but he is not going to be able to make sufficient inroads into the “bitter people” who are the swing votes—it is poor and lower middle class white people that now crown the leader of the Free World. Democrats need some those of votes to win places like Ohio and Pennsylvania—and can even (as Bill Clinton did) pick off a couple not-so-deep-south states. The most important voters, for Democrats to win, are those in the five counties in Ohio's Appalachian Southeast corner.
Hillary Clinton is able to get enough of those votes. But it is also absolutely essential that Democrats get black votes and urban voters in large numbers. If the Democrats were to deny the nomination to a black man who got the most votes—those people are not going to turn out in numbers sufficient to win the swing states, even if she is able to make inroads into the “bitter people.” And her popularity among women, is probably not enough to offset the lack of urban enthusiasm.
It is quite significant that polls show that even in Ultra blue Massachusetts--Hillary would beat McCain, but Obama would not.

Becky, I'm glad you said Lou Dobbs and not Bill O'Reilly. You're right on the money.
Absolutely Obama ruined his chances. I loved this.
Your description of the Clinton era...proves my point about angry white men.
Eye of the beholder, dearest.
Other demographies can be critical of whatever is not like them -- the AWG especially -- without being "angry" or "hating." The white guys can't. Don't know who made the rule, but let's do a favor to our grasps on reality and sanity...and avoid pretending it has something to do with common sense.
Barack Hussein Obama is going to have trouble in Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia, where he will once again be faced by a large white working class vote. He can still win the nomination and lose these primaries. Pennsylvania was the last big delegate prize. But if Barack Hussein Obama doesn't find a way now to speak to these voters, he is going to have trouble winning that large swath of states from Pennsylvania through Missouri in which a Democrat must do well to gain the presidency."
Do you know rohan crone? I like it.
My brother often go to the internet bar to buy rohan gold and play it.
After school, He likes playing games using these rohan online crone with his friend.
I do not like to play it. Because I think that it not only costs much money but also spend much time. One day, he give me many rohan online gold and play the game with me.
I came to the bar following him and found rohan money was so cheap. After that, I also go to play game with him.
