Obama's Triumph of the Will

obama savior

a2 Barack Obama had planned on addressing the world from Berlin's historic Brandenberg Gate. But German leadership, which still harbors deep fears about cults of personality, has said no.

It was at the Brandenberg Gate that President John Kennedy made his famous Ich bin ein Berliner speech, in which he made it clear, to the leaders of monolithic Communism, that America would go to the mat to keep Berlin free:

In 1987 Ronald Reagan stood at the Brandenberg Gate, and demanded that Premier Gorbachev tear down the Berlin Wall:

Barack Obama has not done a thing, nor does he yet stand for anything, that makes him worthy to address the world from that hallowed place of freedom and democracy.

obama messiah Barack Obama stands for one thing—himself. He has been in the United States Senate for four years, and has not done anything of note. Nor is his record in the Illinois legislature particularly memorable. He was head of the Harvard Law Review, yet has not written any scholarly legal papers.

Audacity-of-Hope-cover He has authored two books, which were basically about one idea—how special Barack Obama is, and his importance and place in the great tides and dialogue of history.

obama will The Obama campaign wants to portray itself as a movement, rather than a political campaign. Obama has transcended post-modernism. It is his claim that he has not only moved beyond the divisive politics of conservative and liberal, but is post-politics entirely.

Although there is no real reason to believe that Obama is this transcendent historical figure, it is a theme quite familiar to Christians. Christianity is all about faith in the person of The Christ, and that is why so often good Christians are able to rationalize away the actual things the historical Jesus said—if you believe in the Son of God you will be saved—nothing else matters.

jesus rally Jesus, whether God, man or both, was a good person—and that is why the history of this cult of personality is not as bad as it could have been. But, without going into the whole litany of Christianity's sins throughout the ages, this, all too often shameful history, proves what dangers lie in personality cults, even when that person may be God.

Lenin America has always been reluctant to jump aboard ideological movements in general, and personality cults in particular. It has to do with our national character, which was born in the anti-authoritarianism and individualism of the Revolution, and then forged on the Western Frontier.

Mao Not so the rest of the world. Much of the misery of the twentieth century was caused by ideological movements—which almost always evolved into personality cults—and, without exception, turned out badly---Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Mussolini, Lenin,Pol Pot, Hirohito, Castro—and all the minor tyrants such as Saddam Hussein.

Young Pioneers The one thing all these leaders had in common is they not only sold themselves as the embodiment of their nation, and all its hopes, dreams and aspirations---but believed it themselves.

obama power to people Michelle Obama has said “Barack Obama is the only person in this race who understands that, before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls--our souls are broken in this nation”

obama hope And it is through Obama that our souls will be saved:

obama change “Barack Obama is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.”

obama savior In other words our uninformed, uninvolved broken souls can be saved simply by voting for Barack Obama. We don't have to sacrifice, or even know how Obama stands on the issues, much less think--- belief in Barack Obama will make us whole and bring us to the promised land, and America will finally shine in all its glory.

obama Obama likes to say, “we are the change that we seek” and “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” Despite the soaring collective rhetoric, what he really means is that Barack Obama is the one we have been waiting for:

Hitler Triumph of the Will It's as scary as The Führer was at Nuremberg—adoring youth, fainting frauleins—and the triumph, renaissance, restoration and glory of the German Will, through the personhood and adoration of Adolph Hitler:

Rudolpf Hess closed the proceedings, by offering a benediction:

"The Party is Hitler--Hitler however is Germany-- just as Germany is Hitler."

Hitler youth Germans did not know then what the Third Reich would evolve into—they only knew that Hitler was the embodiment of the fatherland, and the one they had been awaiting.

obama germany That is a big part of the reason why German Chancellor Angela Merkel, among others, did not want the Democratic presidential candidate using the Brandenberg Gate to mythologize himself, and his place in history.

Tiergarten Victory Column So instead, The One addressed, and offered himself up to us, from the Victory Column in Tiergarten park, a venue of colossal phallic proportions, appropriate for a global manifesto--- the place where angels gathered in Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire, and which was erected as a monument to Prussian superiority, and was to have been ground zero of the Reich's New World Order:

"People of Berlin -- people of the world -- this is our moment. This is our time."

It is Barack Obama time.

I am scared for my country. The way the ENTIRE media, from networks to blogs push this character makes me thinks of the Bolshevik revolution in Russia early 20th century.

He's an unknown, harboring socialist views dragging with him a damn scary woman with a far heavier left lean.

This is a defining era for the USA. I am more than fearful we are about to drop the ball.
God help us!

Good post. Another one where I actually agree with you. Good to see you are leaving the dark side. Just kidding but seriously great points.

Becky, who are you voting for in the presidential election? I'm thinking of writing in Ron Paul. There may be other write in possibilities who are more libertarian but he seems to have the best chance (even if its a very slight one) to get enough to show up on the radar screen. What do you think?

What is it with cult of personality stuff that everybody's so crazed about? I don't get the anxiety. Isn't that the definition of latter day politics? I'm not saying its healthy, but in the Mass Media Age, that's the way it is. We've all seen "Network" right?

Anyway. Obama is the first black/mixed race (choose one, or both) person to be a credible candidate for President of the United States. What do folks want? Do we want him to be deferential and look at his shoes all the time?

I mean, c'mon people. Think about the flip side of what you're saying, in the context of who he is and the history of this nation. People say he's arrogant. Maybe he is.

I don't get the "he's got no experience crowd" either...oh, never mind. This whole discussion makes me tired.

P.S. They didn't allow the backdrop of the Brandenburg Gate.

But I have to wonder if some savvy operator in the Barack team asked for the Gate, knowing he'd get the angel, and so one of the big pictures will be: Obama, shot from below like a hero, with the angel's wings spread above him. Would be a difficult angle on the angel (I've been there) due to the height, but. It'll be interesting. That'll be another one for the COP file.

Give me a break SS (short shorts)-sorry to hear you are suffering from paranoia today. While I have no plans to vote for Obama, its really a stretch to say he is as scary as The Führer was at Nuremberg. He had already written Mein Kampf, which differed significantly in content from Obama's books. Seig Heil.

Obama is appealing to voters as a leader for "everyman". With the prospect of a liberal in the White House and a liberal majority congress such idealism can excite disenchanted voters. He's demonstrated no skill when he can't have his way yet. The real congress and the American people sorely need that skill in it's next leader.

As for Hitler, being similarly raised under such early 19th century German cultural style upbringing myself I can suggest from the works of world renown therapist Alice Miller that the Hollywood idealized German/Austrian family led by severe authoritarian parents like Baron Von Trapp produced continuing generations of docile government obedient minded citizens who followed an equally abused child in the adult Hitler who fended off those ill effects via his self grandiosity and diverted anger of the Jewish people.

"People who have been taught to obey by having violence inflicted on them have very good reasons to avoid being reminded of the sufferings they went through in childhood"

"Only people who were treated in a perverse way, but deny the fact, will seek scapegoats on whom they can unconsciously take out their rage."

I understand your parallel to the German Hitler of old Germany and Obama. I'm suggesting some reasons for Hitler's and his fatherland's citizen's behavior pre-WWII from Alice Miller's work on child abuse.

I hope Obama's grandeos siren message isn't attractive to the masses because of his own father's abandonment and his own subconscious needs. As Alice Miller writes, "In our society the cult of the unconscious still holds sway."

Becky - You are 100% correct. Any one who does not see your side of this post, obviously has either forgotten their history or never new the true history unlike what the liberal schools now teach.
Obama has accomplished nothing in his life, believes there are 57 states and will be president for 8 to 10 years. These are his words.
What a wack job.

You may be right. He might not deserve all the hoopla he gets because he really hasn't done anything memorable.

I'm still voting for him?

Why? Because he doesn't appear to be a clown like McCain, Hillary or any of the other candidates who attempted to go down that path.

The lesser of two dozen evils.

Every now and again, I get together with an old friend from college.

He and I studied history together -- argued with professors who had patience to equal our passion, knowing that in time, we'd learn to channel our passion to constructive energy and learn to friggin' think.

Last weekend, we killed some rum and cigars on my deck, watched the lawn-sprinklers hiss, and looked at the Oregon coast range in the distance - -and realized that it was all about to come to an end.

We both agreed that (1) the Great, Uneducated, Apathetic Unwashed have finally out-bred us, so that more people voted for "Idol" last time 'round than voted for President; and (2) the Great American Popularity Contest every four years has brought us to this:

We are now more-polarized as a nation than at any time since 1860.

A quick look at an American-History timeline will tell you what happened next.

What happens next will depend on the entire nation making the fundamental decision that a borrow-and-spend Republican is no better than a tax-and-spend Democrat.

The clock, as ever, ticks....

Hek, until he got tired had it right, I think.

Obama isn't a Hitler, a Stalin. He also isn't a McCain, aging, with mixed legislative goals and achievements.

He's running a smart campaign: move a bit to the middle, take the flack from the left that you have in the bag anyway. Continue to play political rock star in contrast to not much from McCain, take flack from the right that you can't get to anyway.

Organize and raise money, taking all of the black vote and taking away the Hispanic Bush vote, making inroads into the blue collar Clinton, previously Reagan vote.

Textbook campaigning. McCain wishes he were as good at this stuff.

And that's the absolute most flattering substantial comment I ever hear about Obama: The "effective campaign."

It'd be nice if certain people could work up as much enthusiasm for beating terrorists as they do for winning elections. Just a fraction as much.

You know, in sales, when you're selling a decent product, it really doesn't matter if the salesman is skilled or not. Ever since JFK, whenever the democrat party is excited about one of their own, the one personal characteristic that works them into that lather is "charisma." As in, charm. Gift-of-gab. The ability to sell crappy products.

This means something important.

Hitler got Germany into war and risky Obama will get us into war too. Opps, I forgot "safe" W already got us there. Obama is too risky he will spend us into obivion. Opps, W already got us there too. Crazy blacks like this Obama will scare the rest of the world and isolate us. Opps, W has already done that too! And the rest of the world likes Obama. Go figure!

Lets choose a safe option like McCain. He says he wants to bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran but that was a joke right?

I was at a Holiday Inn having their buffet breakfast a few months ago and the news was on. Barack came on and spoke for 5 minutes and breakfast service stopped cold. You see the three waiters and waitresses were black and they stopped and listened to him like they were hypnotized. With that kind of following the man can move mountains if he so choses.

I could not agree with you more! I used to get offended when I saw people make comparisons and references between Hitler and other socialist dictators and Obama. Unfortunately, I now agree.

Obama capitalizes on Americans' reduced sense of self worth after 8 years of the neoconservative Bush administration and his followers do not know even a single thing he stands for. Part of his nebulous identity ... we can shape shift it to fit our own identity and "love him" without knowing anything about what he will do for our country! It's a very dangerous time for our democracy!..

Thank you for this website. I'm a lifelong Republican who had been ready to say Boo Yah! to my own party this year ... until John McCain earned enough electoral votes for the nomination. There IS no third party candidate in this election! A vote for anyone other than McCain is a vote for an Obama presidency!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are also members of the Pickens website. Personally, I feel that Pickens approached Congress as the low hanging fruit! His association with Pelosi does nothing to change the fact that we must achieve energy independence! I write about this every day for a couple different websites. We MUST elect John McCain or our country will be in a world of hurt. I hope your readers will also visit SetAmericaFree.org. Play time is over.

Thanks again for this wonderful forum and I'll look forward to checking it out regularly!
