Barack Obama Lies to Gays Again
Just wondering if any of my gay and lesbian friends are beginning to get it on the big nothing that Obama Pride is.
We have discussed how Barack Obama, after much vacillating, promised to get DOMA repealed, but when there was a bill in the Senate to repeal one small part of the law, he declined to support it.
I have gone on ad nauseum how his yack yack on Proposition 8 was just another pander, and his failure to lift a finger in the effort to defeat the measure was the single biggest reason for it's passage. .
Lay off on the Mormons—at least they are upfront on their position.
And now we have this one, and there is no way to describe it but liar liar pants on fire.
The report is that the one we have all been awaiting will not move for months, and perhaps not until 2010, to ask Congress to end the military's ban on open homosexuals in the ranks—and will continue the ridiculous “don't ask don't tell” policy.
And I wouldn't really hold my breath for it to happen then.
Isn't this guy just everything you had hoped for?
Another lying panderer, who wastes no time in tossing us under the bus.

You and I have been like-minded for months about the pandering of the One. I'm in the Republic of Madison, WI where The One is plastered everywhere and I catch flack nonstop for pointing out the lack of "Change" brought about.
Keep up the good fight and let the truth about Bar[eb]ack Obama ring loud and clear. Baracking and barebacking: neither is safe!
Aw gee try to be objective folks, you have to admire this guy's accomplishment. He has such a loyal base now he can get away with reinventing himself as a pro-war anti-gay religious zealot neocon! Now W Bush pulled a bait and switch in 2000 when he pledged a modest foreign policy, then started a war and still got reelected in 2004. But that was bush-league. Obama can put that accomplishment to shame. There's no end to the incredible gullibility & stupidity of the American electorate sheep-people.
And here's why they can get away with this Becky. Take you and me. I'm anti-war you're pro-gay. Oh you're against the war as a 9th or 10th issue in your list of priorities. And I'm pro-gay. But its 9th or 10th on my list of priorities. Honestly I don't care if he lied about gays as long as he brings the war to an end. And you don't care if he lied about being anti-war. I don't think you will be honest about this so lets judge your antiwar vs pro-gay commitment by the number of blogs you've written on each subject in the past two years. I think that proves this judgement of your positions better than any verbage.
My point is that politicians like Barack and W will always be successful with lying as long as they can divide and conquer. And yes, they can. W didn't even have that magnetic charisma Obama has, that's just an additional plus Obama can hold in reserve.

Do you remember that Bill Clinton campaigned on this, but when he tried to do it very, very early in his presidency, people freaked out and we ended up with the ugly compromise that is "don't ask, don't tell." I think Obama is waiting to establish some good will with Congress and the rest of "Americuh" before trying something so-called "controversial." It would be truly great if this was his first act as president, except that half the damn country would scream "The economy is tanking and this is what you focus on?!" I agree that this is playing politics with the issue - it takes politics to make better legistlation. But, you're stretching the truth to say that Obama has "lied to gays again" - if he never follows through and tries to change this policy, he'll be a lier - for now, all he's done is give a sense of when he plans to do it. Hardly a lie. Unfortunately, I've seen that any pro-Obama comments are seen as fanatical here; I'm not a fanatic, just a fan of taking a wait-and-see attitude before judging the actions of a man who is still 60 days from even becoming the Prez.
I feel compelled to add... I consistently read this blog (and am amazed at the volume!) and do appreciate hearing your take. It was nice in the campaign to hear an anti-Obama voice that was not just a hash of Fox News talking points. Your criticisms had the unique quality of being grounded by the facts. :)
Becky - I can't believe you and I have not come together before in the blog world (feel free to check mine out), but I agree 1000%. I also am a little annoyed that more gay/lesbian bloggers aren't ripping him a new one for this.
You know, I watched as Obama passed by the poorest communities of Philadelphia without a stop (which largely had the black community who supported him vehemently), I watched him pass up being interviewed by the city's gay paper (when Hilary had no issue with it), and I watched him as he passed up real opportunities to help change America in legislation.
I never drank the kool-aid, but watched and saw his actions. Just because he mentions gays in a speech doesn't mean he can actually follow through.
Thanks for the thoughts, and the honesty - at least someone is talking about this hypocrisy!
