Slick Barry Obama and Democratic Shame

slick barry obama

a2 Today the Democrats in the Senate gave the drafters of the Constitution the finger, and passed the FISA bill with a grant of amnesty to the telecoms.

Barack Obama, despite repeated promises to filibuster against the bill, voted for it. Hillary Clinton voted nay. Obama , unlike McCain, thought it so important he be on record, interrupted his campaign to come in and stick it to the constitution.

Obama, in an argument worthy of Slick Willy's linguistic hair splitting over the definition of “sex” and meaning of "is," says the revised bill is a compromise that removes his objection to granting retroactive amnesty. I am sorry, that is just a lie. I don't think we need another president who thinks he is so smart, he can lie with impunity by playing bizarre lawyerly word games.

This is the same Barack Obama who campaigned on a promise to never vote for an extension of the Patriot Act. But once elected did just that. He is the guy who keeps making nuanced slippery linguistic refinements to get the votes of gays and lesbians.

This all comes on the heels of a ruling by Judge Vaughn Walker in San Francisco last week, who through a strange set of circumstances, became privy to a classified document, and ruled that it appeared the President had committed a federal felony in ordering domestic wiretapping.

So the legislation is also, effectively, a grant of amnesty to Bush, Gonzales, Ashcroft, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of them.

I am sure George Bush and Dick Cheney never imagined that a Democratically controlled congress would be their protector and savior. An attempt to get the same thing out of Bill Frist and the Republicans actually failed.

Today we saw an evisceration of the Fourth Amendment at the hands of the Democrats:

They did it only for political gain, which is why they should be buried.

Barack Obama is the most unprincipled one of all. He, a Harvard Law graduate, and former professor of Constitutional law, knows better.

But he just doesn't care. The Constitution , integrity and principles are secondary to the importance of putting him in office.

We don't need another president like that.

P.S.--

chris doddToday I received an email from Senator Chris Dodd:

Yesterday was a sad day for the United States Senate.

It is my hope that the courts will undo the damage done to the Constitution.

But let us stand tall, knowing that by working together we were able to make wiretapping and retroactive immunity part of the national discourse these last number of months.

We came together – all of you, Senator Feingold, bloggers like Jane Hamsher and Glenn Greenwald, organizations like the EFF and ACLU, and untold hundreds of thousands of Americans who simply wanted to make sure that this one, last insult did not happen with ease.

I'm sorry we weren't successful.

I just hope I'm lucky enough to have you by my side in the next fight, whatever that may be.

Thanks for all you've done.

Chris Dodd

While you are right to slam him for his reversal on FISA, to say he doesn't care is probably melodramatic; he probably thinks he can get a more important win somewhere else. It may be for political gain, but I don't think that gain is purely self serving.

Though yeah, his reversal on FISA deserves a better answer than what has been offered.

Well Nam, you see,I put a pretty high value on the constitution, and particularly the Fourth Amendment--so the "end justifies the means" argument--if it is ever legitimate, doesn't work at all with me in this case.

And, as I mentioned, in this case that "end" is the election of Barack Obama.

Oh my gosh--that doesn't sound like change and the new politics.

And you know what else, it is not going to get him one vote. He thinks this will get him votes with the "bitter people".

It once again, shows what an elitist panderer he is--the conservative minded, so called Reagan Democrats, are not going to be impressed by this pandering. They would respect him more if he stood up for principles he believed in.

And he underestimates them, in thinking they are some kind of Bush nuts and don't care about the president violating the law--or the constitution.

Disgusting.

HERES A LINK from MY blog TO PUT TO REST THE RUMORS OF OBAMA BEING MUSLIM.
Becky- I liked skiming through your blog- nice reading.
I agree- if the 4th amendment doesnt mean anything, then whats the point? ditto the "war on terror"- the only ones being terrorized are US, byt our GOVT., due to their fear.
how did we ever al survive the cold war threat of nuclear annihilation? or our parents and the "red scare"? or WW2? or WW1, for that matter?
Obama was right when he said it ought to be treated as a criminal law issue- acts such as "911", or the OK city bombing, or other acts cant be stopped- only deterred. We must all be vigilant, but not surrender our freedoms for security- Ben franklin has a quote along those lines, i believe.
The best way to defeat our enemies of freedom, who hate us, and our way of life- is diplomacy, negotiation, and especially, more freedoms, in america- but keeping reasonable track of who's coming and going, and what they're up to.
In fact, Domestic Violence is a greater threat to all our safety and security than any cutthroat band or foreigners- more women; AND men are killed, or injured from domestic violence in america, than al qaeda, or islamic extremistws- with their own peculiar views of womens rights.
so lete get our foreign and domesitc security policies straight.
I'm voting for Barack Obama.
Or "Brock O'Bama"- that fine Irish boy from chicago, as I joke.
enjoy your summer, and nice metting you on line.
visit my blog- http://x-wire.blogspot.com
and snoop around, to find out more about me, and my e-mail.
Arizona- isnt that where MCCain, and goldwater are from? whats wrong with you people? giggle!
